Services
Patchwork Petcare is based in Prestonpans and serves the surrounding areas, including Tranent, Musselburgh, Portobello, Wallyford, Whitecraig, Dalkeith, Ormiston, Pencaitland, Haddington, Aberlady and Longniddry.
All of my services are fully customised for you and your pet to encompass all of your needs; visits can look very different for everyone.
Below is a guide on what my services can include.
If you think my services might be for you, or you have any questions, please get in touch!
Free Introductory Meeting
Before I start taking care of your pets, I will visit all new clients (and existing clients with a new addition to the family if required) for a free introductory meeting. This is a good opportunity for you and your pets to get to know me, and for me to better understand your pets’ routines, requirements and personalities, to make sure my services are right for you.
This meeting can take place in your own home, yard, or on a local walk if you’re looking for dog walking. They usually last for around 15 – 30 minutes, but can vary depending requirements. For animals with complex needs, this may last up to a full hour.
I will also typically collect a set of keys during this meeting if we agree that my services are a good fit.
Enrichment Walks
I exclusively offer solo and same-household dog walks (up to four from the same home). This means that your dog sets the pace and gets my undivided attention, with walks that are fully customised to their needs.
It also means less time (or no time!) in the car, and more time for fun!
These walks are built around your dog’s needs to keep your dog entertained, allow them freedom to explore, sniff and play in a way that suits them, and provide valuable enrichment opportunities along the way, such as scent work and movement games; keeping them happy and healthy both physically and mentally.
Dogs of all breeds, backgrounds, abilities and energy levels are welcome.
These solo walks are also perfect for pet parents who:
- work varied shifts and need flexible booking options.
- have difficulty walking their dog themselves due to illness or injury.
- have multiple dogs, or a new dog who is still getting settled, and need an extra set of hands on deck to advise or support. (Yes, I can buddy walk with you too!)
To ensure the most professional service is provided, I am trained in advanced pet first aid, continuously studying canine behaviour and learning theory, East Lothian Council approved, and keep up to date with all relevant guidance and legislation. All walks are also individually risk assessed to account for changing needs and environments; so you can rest assured all walks will be as safe as they are fun.
Pet Sitting
My home visits vary greatly between households, as no two pets are the same. Pets of all shapes and sizes are welcome, and services are tailored to their individual needs, so that they can stay home with minimal disruption to their routine.
Visits include all of the essentials like food, water and hygiene and a standard, and for those who enjoy it, lots of fuss and enrichment options!
Some examples of the other services provided include, but are not limited to:
- toilet breaks
- enclosure deep cleaning
- grooming and bathing
- enclosure checks and maintenance
- administering medication
- assisting with physiotherapy regimes
- games, training and other enrichment

I take great care of your property and keep everything tidy as a standard, but I also offer a range of home and plant care services. This can be anything from watering your baby cactus while you’re away, to a full house clean. Who doesn’t love coming home from holiday to gleaming surfaces, bins emptied, and parcels safe in the porch?
